My fiancee and I are having a wedding ceremony and reception next year. I'm trying to figure out what we should do about music. The ceremony will be short and informal - there will be no walking down the aisle or wedding attendants. Then, we'll follow that with the reception (both the ceremony and reception will be at the same place). We are having a 1950s theme. I was thinking of buying a new vintage-style record player (http://www.crosleyradio.com/prods/cr73-3.html) that comes equipped with a CD player so that we could play our 50's CDs, but keep the look of a 1950's party. We are also considering hiring a DJ - if the prices are reasonable. We are trying to do this as cheaply as possible. My question is, would the record player put out enough sound? We are having a wedding with 100 guests in this room (http://www.hamlinhouserestaurant.com/Weddingpage.html) and no dance floor.

I'm not sure if the record player link worked. This one might be better: http://www.crosleyradio.com/prods/cr73-3.html

Is anyone actually reading this question? I'm not asking for song suggestions!

That would depend on the size of the room and what you are using for an amplifier for the output. The size or number of speakers don't matter if you do not have the amperage. For the size of your room it should be OK but, remember that 100 people talking can be quite loud. I would go with a professional DJ ... tell them what you would like in music and they will accommodate for the number of people, etc. Remember, this is a once-in-a-life time experience so you want it to be right.

Have a song written for your wedding!

Go to this site http://www.freewebs.com/originalsong/index.htm Then go to meet the artist page and give it a few minuets but a song will play that is 50s Style

Have them write a song for you! like that one.

Go for the DJ -- that way you won't have to worry about changing records, and the DJ will keep the party going.

you need to have good speakers. just imagine 100 people all having diff. conversations....I suggest 4 of them (1 in each corner so the sound is dispersed equally)
