So my bf of four years asked me to marry him last night. I am very happy and love him very much.

Here is the thing. It isn't the first time he's asked me and I've said yes. This is the third time. He said that he was getting a nice ring on Valentines Day. But he offered me the ring that I gave back to him three times...each time he broke up with me.

At first I said no, the ring is jinxed. But he looked at me and I could see in his eyes he wanted me to wear it. It's on my finger now.

My question is...am I jinxing our engagement by wearing a tainted ring? Even if there supposedly will be a "new" ring?

Its not jinxed...it was bought for YOU!!! Could you imagine had he offered it to three other ladies? I think you wearing that particular ring confirms to him that you accept him AND his taste in gifts to you. Remember, its not just jewelry...its a symbol of his love, and a token of his promise to take care of you.

Of course not. Let him know you would like to exchange it when the new ring arrives but for now, this one will do. He bought it for you out of love. Just let him in on a secret, it's not coming off due to a break up ever again. It is now your official engagement ring until your Valentine's Day gift gets here! It's not a pon to be put off and on. Period! No, your ring is not jinxing anything. Wear it proudly! Congratulations!

Oh grow up! Do you love this guy or not? The ring shouldn't matter. It's only a small materialistic token of how he feels about you. I know many couples, that have been married short term and long term that don't even wear their rings because it either doesn't fit right, they can't because of work, etc. The ring shouldn't be that important. What matters is that you love this person mind, body, and soul and you couldn't imagine your life without them and you, yourself, would die for them.

Don't worry about the ring so much as the fact that he's broken up with you 3 times. So he says he loves you and wants to marry you, and then leaves?? I'd be questioning him more than the ring.

Good luck sweetie, don't settle for second best.

Just wear the ring, i doubt it is tainted otherwise you guys wouldn't even be together. If there is a new ring, i hope you like it and things work out.

It's not the ring that counts, and it's not the ring that caused him to break off with you the other times. Hopefully you two have thoroughly discussed the issues that led up to the other break offs. Best wishes to you both!

Why would you say the ring is tainted? It's just a ring! It's just a token of what is really important...the love you have for one another.

He broke up with you three times after asking you to marry him three times. I think I would have moved on after the first time. Whats gonna happen if you do get married and he wants to break up again. Sounds very immature.

You shouldn't think of it...The ring is not jinx...As long as you love him and feel that he's the one you want to spend the rest of your life is...that's whats important...congratulations :o)

love is not based on the ring someone gives you its based on the feelings in your heart.the ring is only a show for people on the outside of your relationship.
