. . .if you last had a relaxer on December 3, 2006? I would use a professional bleaching kit but I don't want to use too many harsh chemicals in my hair. And I just want a mild bleaching effect. I bleached my hair before (months ago) and my hair came out looking BRIGHT reddish-orange.

Dark hair will always go red-orange. I strongly suggest going lighter with cooler or ash colors. I'm a brunette and I use level 6a. I still get a tinge of red but not as much as I would with a warmer shade.

Speak with a professional before you do anything!

When coloring your hair yourself without the advice of a trained professional you always run the risk of turning out orangey. Yes peroxide can lighten your hair a shade or two without being too dramatic but how about using a semi-permanent or demi-permanent color so there is no damage or mistakes that you'll have to live with for months.

DONT DO IT!!!!!! Youll never get it back, and the color will always come out unless you destroy your hair! i did that about 6 months ago, and ive spent over $600 at salons trying to get it back to a normal color. the color of your hair will be very brassy, and very unnatural.
