It could be a urinary or bladder infection (your kidneys are along your lower back). If you think it is that go to doctor for a urinalysis.
If you think something happened with your back, then you could go to your doctor or the emergency room and have it checked out. You could try an over the counter pain reliever and see if a heating pad or an ice pack would help.I had that once. Went to the ER. They gave me a shot and pills. No XRay or urine test. It didn't help, so I tried the ice pack. Figured I would freeze the pain away (not sure if it is good how I did it laying on an ice gel pack and going to sleep on it). Eventually it went away after
I do remember now that before I had the back pain I had been doing a lot of yard work, especially chopping wood, so that was probably a repetitive injury that I had...like a later person said. Good point.Sometimes you don't relate repetition to the injury because it doesn't always hurt right away.

Since you don't recall an actual injury, I would tend to think you may have what's called 'repetitive' back injury. If you have spent a lot of time over a fairly long period of time repeating the same movement, such as lifting children, bending over to do work of any sort, even sitting in an awkward position for a part of each day, this repetitive movement can cause injury. Back injury is very painful and hard to treat. Make a trip to see your Doctor.

I would tend to think that you have pulled or strained the muscles. You may have sneezed extra hard, or a cough can pull a muscle for that matter. Rest with a heating pad against your back, avoid lifting or strenuous jobs(vacuuming is one example). Most back injuries occur in the lower(lumbar)region, with the neck following and the mid back after that. You can try some ibuprofen as directed, that may help with inflammation. I don't think it's a serious back problem.........just getting older. Good luck.

Perhaps your back is need of a chiropractic adjustment. I'm 33 and one day while bent over picking up newspaper my back went out & I couldn't walk. No previous injury or strain. Went to the chiropractor only to find out I had a swollen disc. This could come from a myriad of things...even day to day things. If you visit the chiropractor they will take x-rays to see if there are any problems with your back and then give a treatment schedule to help you feel better again.

Go to the doctor. and get some x-rays done. I have the same pain and i was just diagnose with scoliosis lumber, spondylolisthesis, and something else in my pelvic which is causing my lower back pain. Im 23yrs old. Im not able to sit for a while cuz my lower back hurts. If i'm standing it also hurts. I use to be able to sit straight and now if i do it it hurts. I have to bend a little. i hope you dont have these conditions but check with your doctor.

Are you doing alot of chores, that involve bending over? You may be bending wrong, when you do... We're suppose to bend our knees when we bend, at the same time... This cold wheather isn't helping those of us who have Arthritis........ I have arthritis, and the cold and humid days, or "over-cast" days my back, just kills me!! Even my pain medication doesn't help my back, but then I have DDD, and Rhematoid..... I also have a lump in my lumbar spine, and when I saw a Neurosurgeon for it, he told me... my back is like a "Fragile peice of glass" that to remove the lump, would be "Disasterous!!!" Which made me feel really good, especially since I had to go all the way up North to see him, only to have a 5 minute conversation telling me there was nothing he could do for me, you know..... If I were you, I'd get checked to see if your back is getting ready to go out on you....That and see if they can check you for arthritis. While there at it, I hope you dont have it, hun....But its always good to make sure you dont , you know.... Maybe, to releave some of the pain you could put a hot water bottle on your lower back, and ly down on a good firm bed, or couch or the floor while its on your back...... In order to keep it from going out on you!! Good luck I hope you feel better real soon!!! Smile!!!

Do you exercise regularly? You might want to visit your doctor and let him know what is going on. He can help you with exercises to strenghten your back muscles.
