Consider yourself very lucky.

When you say "no bands" I assume that you mean no metal bands around the molars. If you mean that you have brackets but no arch wires yet, then you are not finished. The pain usually comes when the arch wired is secured to your brackets with the little round elastics.

Most people do experience pain and discomfort in the first weeks of braces. But some people actually do not.

This doesn't mean that they will never hurt. Sometimes, after the orthodontist does your monthly adjustment, they may ache for a few days.

Still, you should be careful and don't eat foods that could cause harm to your braces, such as gummy sticky candies or very hard nuts. No chewing on pencils! Also, be sure to take SMALL BITES when you eat and chew. Chew very carefully and slowly. Be careful with stringy foods such as spaghetti or stringy hot cheese on pizza -- they could get caught on your braces and make you gag a little bit.

Our website has a lot of information about braces which you might find very helpful. Here is a link to one series of pages you may want to read.

It's absolutely fine. They shouldn't hurt most of the time. You may feel some soreness when they adjust them, but that should certainly be gone by a week after regardless. Good luck!

If you just got them, it's ok that it doesn't hurt. Once your teeth have adjusted to them, your dentist (or orthodontist) will tighten them to make your teeth shift slowly. They will do this over and over till your teeth are straight. That is when some discomfort will begin. When the shifting starts to happen.

yes its ok, it means that your teeth were already straight so they dont need to move to adjust to your braces. but in doubt you can always go see your orthodontic again.

they'll hurt later when the dentist has to tighten them.
