A story or an allegory tale used by a culture to express how it sees the world. I see nothing wrong with mythology as long as people understand that it is symbolic, not literal.
ALL religions and all Gods are based on mythology. When I say this, a lot of people (namely monotheists) get offended thinking I am calling their religion nothing more then a lie. To me myth doesn't mean lie, it means a symbolic story.

An explanatory tale, starting with a culutral need and based in one or two minor facts, that spirals into the mystery and wonder that make life the exciting adventure it is.
A story is just a story, but a myth speaks to our very souls.

It's an ancient story that holds true in the heart, but isn't proven, so it's not taken as fact, only a teaching about life.
