I've downloaded a couple of movies and I'd like to burn them onto dvd. I've tried to do this using Media Player but it keeps saying that it cannot support the file or the codec used to compress the file, but I've watched all these in MP. Is there another programme i can download to burn these films?

What format are the films? What size? Where do you want to watch them? On a stand alone player or your comp? Sorry for asking questions but it helps to know.
MP won't burn them. You need a burning app. If the films are avi or xvid or divx then you can burn them as data but they might not play on a stand alone dvd player.
Nero works well http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html but is expensive.
Deepburner is free http://www.deepburner.com/
If they are DVD then you can't burn them as data and the free version of deepburner won't do it. DVD shrink won't burn your disk either. all it does is copy the files to your hard drive.
You'll need nero (but you'll need the dvd plugin) or a free version is final burner

do an internet search for a program called DVD Shrink. Very easy to use and it originated in Europe so you won't be able to download it from any of the usual sites like cnet.com.

Its noted as ANYDVD. that is criminal to replica your man or woman dvd's for backup purposes purely(honest use) you purely cant supply them out or redistibute them on the internet. Then it is going to change into against the law. similar in case you lease a dvd from the keep and replica it. unlawful!!!!

it might be that the format of the movie can not be burt as a dvd.

i use a program called "convert x to dvd"

it will convert any video to dvd format and then burn to disk.

this is the only way i over come the problem you have.
good luck

I use AnyDVD and DVDClone II available at the Slysoft.com website. AnyDVD decompresses the file and CloneDVD encrypts it back to the dvd. Very good and inexpensive if you decide to buy it after the trial period.
