We need to 1) control the borders (more border patrol agents), 2) fine and fire every business that hires illegals, 3) fine and fire every landlord that rents/houses illegals, 4) deport every illegal immigrant in the US, 5) make sure that they don't sneak back in the US again and 6) take away Spanish speaking TV/Radio stations and phone prompts!

If we enforce our laws (shocking change there) ban sanctuary cities, require real id for benefits including education and employment, track visa EXITS as Homeland Security has just decided isn't important, have real border security and go after corruption in our border patrol, particularly near El Paso, I think we'd be a lot of the way there. However, eliminating chain migration to take away the bootstrapping impact of having children illegally here, and to stop mass burden that would otherwise come based on illegals who had children here, not to mention the permenent skew of our culture to one specific culture due to those who illegally came is also vital.
Sufficiently screened (NO twice illegal no id theft and no gang members) I'd be ok with a plan like Isaakson's. However, we need to stop the problem going forward before we create such a huge wedge of population as birth migration currently creates.
Our schools are failing and our services are being drained, yet instead of protecting them Bush comes up with that Social Security give away to illegals which is ALSO reflected in the Senate Immigration bill passed last year.
It is clear they don't really want to stop the problem, because the simple solution of 'enforce our laws and protect our citizens' is being avoided. We need new people in government.

I will never support an amnesty of any kind for criminals who knowingly break our laws. Deportation is a slow process but it is a part of the current laws which require strict enforcement.
At present America has no border control, that is evidenced by the continuing masses of criminal trespassers streaming accross our borders as we type!
There are many options, none are very humanistic or politically correct. Strict enforcement of current American immigration laws is a viable option, yet there will always be a highly vocal and outraged faction claiming that enforcement of American immigration laws is discriminatory to their people.
I do not hear anyone screaming bloody murder about the violent & inhumane LEGAL immigration laws of our Southern friend & neighbor. Look for yourself and see what you think of that situation.

Send the criminals back to their own countries. There is no other option where these criminals are concerned. Border control needs better enforcing... also no other options there.
ADDITIONAL:::: The children belong with their parents, and should be deported with them. When they are no longer minors, they can make the choice on whether they want to be in the USA. These children belong in whatever country their parents illegally entered our country from, learning at that country's schools, not at ours. At that country's expense, not ours. Let them get the medical and welfare from their country, not ours.

Deporting *all* of them is not practical. Assuming that illegal immigration, like so many problems, is a "10/90" problem, where 10% of them are causing 90% of the problems, if we can get that 10% rounded up and expelled, we'll be well on our way to solving this problem. Start by mandating that any police interaction requires taking action against illegals. Be it a traffic stop, domestic violence call, whatever, if a police officer is interacting with you and you fail to provide valid id or otherwise demonstrate that you have a right to be here, that's it; the officer must take you into custody and it's a one-way bus ticket to Tijuana.

No amnesty should not be granted to illegals. If we want this to stop first we have to close the boarder so no more can get in. This needs to be done with force not men standing guard. Second we need to punish and heavely fine companies that hire illegals. Third we need to do away with the ancor baby law. Lastly, we need to cut off all the illegals from work, welfare, free healthcare, housing and schooling. When we cut them off from these things they will not have any reason to stay or any reason to come. If they want to be Americans then they need to do it the legal way just like every other imagrants who comes to this country.

I am at a toss up for both... If a person is working a full time job and not "milking" the system then I say amnesty, with ways to get them legal.... If they are on the flip side and just milking the system then send them home... I think border control is a waste because how many of them still find their way here in to the country... They will go under, above, or through it... If their mind is made up to come here they will.

We should give them free housing, medical care, and a generous monthly subsidy, so that can enjoy the American dream. It is not right for us to deny them the benefits that they so richly deserve. They have left everything behind in Mexico to come to the land of the free and start over. Our taxes should be increased by 20% and that way, we could take care of them with no problem and we would all be better off.
