Most people start feeling better in 1-2 weeks, but it can take up to 6 weeks to feel better. Make sure you follow-up with your doctor to discuss your progress and whether this drug is working for you. Please give it time and do not stop taking your medication out of fustration. Drugs such as Lexapro are not a quick fix, they restore the brain's chemical balance, to relieve you depression or anxiety. Also if you start to feel better do not stop taking your medication or your symptoms can worsen when the brains chemicals become imbalanced once again. The big difference is your depression or anxiety can be managed and you can live a more normal life. I also recomend receiving other treatment to relieve depression such as talk therapy to help you deal with your condition.

I started to notice a difference in about 2 weeks.
It wasn't a big difference at first but over the weeks I saw a huge change. And so did my family. i wasn't so up tight and afraid. My anixety attacks have almost stopped all together. If I do get them I am able to talk my way through them ... if that makes sence.

Lexapro helps you to sleep and rest your mind from the negative thoughts that it generates, that is why it is taken before going to bed at night. I believe that after a week on lexapro you'll begin to feel relaxed.

lexapro, cipralex, same thing.
Went through hell on this drug. tons of side effects, blue flashes, agitation, limbs twitching, constant loud ringing in ears, self injury, rapid mood swings from high to hitting bottom, dry mouth, terrible ill feelings in which I tried to squeeze my head flat, almost drove me mad, don't use this drug!!!
