Personally the meds help but you have to help yourself. Go to your doctor to see if there are other meds that can help. maybe you have built up a tolerence to the one you are on. I use to have panic attacks but not anymore. I have taught myself to talk to myself when they are about to arise. There are things that you have no control over no matter what you do. I hate to say this but you need to tell yourself sometimes that not matter what you do you can't change it and doesn't make sense to freak out about it. If I can't pay a bill I will start to panic and sweat but, I talk to myself and calm myself down and do what I can do and if I can't do it I just deal with it. It's hard to get there but it is possible. If you get bad news, think through your options. If you start to panic talk yourself down. It's not that I have a I don't care attitude, I have a what can I do more about attitude and will my panic change the situation. The answer is NO!

Meds lose their affect some times, I had to change as well from paxil to cipralex and wellbutrin.
I think I know how you are feeling, I have had a really hard time with panic attacks and the feeling liek you are about to go crazy, jump out of your skin or throw yourself off a cliff ( not becuase you are trying to kill yourself but because your body just does it)
You are sooo not alone there are many people out there and on here that feel the same way.
You are not crazy! you are not going crazy! you will not end up in a rubber room!
It will get better! you will calm down even if only for a bit, then you can see your doctor and get a differnt dosage or diff meds.
MSN groups or Yahoo groups have many differnt chat sites where you can talk to people with the same issues, this might help take the edge off but please see your doctor when you feel you can.

You need to learn how to deal with it without relying on medicine. I had severe panic disorder for 2 years. The meds didn't work so I saw a therapist who taught me how to handle it on my own. I'm so glad that I didn't have to rely on meds. A lot of panic disorder has to do with control issues and by controlling your own problems, you help yourself more than you realize.

Just in case- have you had blood tests done for biological causes?
Runs in my family.
I only had two, to the sight of my own blood.
But, hey, the times I was close?
It all stopped when my thyroid was fixed.
Panic disorder and thyroid problems are both heritable...
and my family never went to doctros (Chrisitan science and all that jazz).
That may not be it, of course, but you should make sure if you haven't already.

ask your doctor to add xanax or clonopin to your present regimen; they might help. If it's any comfort, 30% of population have "social anxiety disorder" which is a type of panic disorder.
