Hi there, my 5 month baby girl who is perfect except, that she is overweight, acts like we are starving her always, eats her food in 15 seconds, and eats our other dogs feces, and mud! We have tried deter pills for our other dog, it didn't "deter her". The vet had us switch her food from Iams small/toy breed puppy, to Regular Iams puppy. Hasn't seemed to help. She is happy, active, has a beautiful coat, just this weird hunger and eating fixation. Any insight, or a different food reccomendation? We have never had a dog do this.
Thank You,
Jena

Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. I've heard the same thing about putting a small amount of spinach in their food before they eat it. Again, doesn't work for all dogs, but it's definitely worth a shot.

For what it's worth, I have two 4 year-old Shih Tzu girls and both of them still eat poo at times. Nasty, but it seems to be pretty standard as far as I can tell. My dad jokes that you can get two of them, feed one of them only one time and they'll feed each other for the rest of their lives. Hah... he's horrible.

Anyway, I wish you luck with the little furball!

My shih tzu puppy ate his own his feces for awhile when we first got him... A friend of ours told us to put unseasoned meat tenderizer in his food, just sprinkle a little on it when he eats. The dog won't notice a difference and its supposed to make their feces less "tasteful" and they won't eat it... Doesn't work for all, but did for several dogs I know... Its worth a try

Did u get her tested for any kinda worms because when they have a worm which there r many kinds the worm survive's off of the food the dog is eating which makes the dog hungry like they never ate anything so u may see her eating her food but if she has a worm once it gets into her system the worm is actually eatting it so try to get her tested for any type of worms or percites

My pup sometimes eats him own poo. I was told that it's because his poo may not be completely broken down before is exits and also, because it smells like "food" to him. I was told to change his food to IAMS and try to pick the poo up immediately.

Dogs put anything in to they're mouths that smell good, even if it doesn't smell good to us.
