assuming a comparison between similar sized screen and that the TVs are showing a similar brightness and contrast on their picture

It really depends on the displays and their size, but as a general rule, a Plasma display will use more power than an LCD.

A small LCD will use less power than most CRTs but as size increases the difference will narrow, but the LCD is still likely to be the most efficient.

Actually you could be talking about the same thing, as there are CRT's that are flat screened. But if you are talking about the total different technology of LCD or plasma, they will definately be more efficient. They take at least 1/2 the power and somtimes even less than the old CRT's. Plus they run cooler. Heat=power. So, yes, they are more efficient.

LCD TV's are more efficient than Plasma, and Plasma is more efficient than Cathode Ray Tube TV's are.
