Is it normal for me to be extremely sad...I almost 13 years old and my eye vision is horrible...its like 450 and 400. My mom and my dad both have in the 500's for each eye (nearsighted) and they say it will stop getting worse soon. Even though i wear contacts and no one knows...i still get really sad knowing my eyes are really bad...I don't know why. Do you think they will ever stop getting bad? I get so depressed because of how bad they are....no joke.

No joke. Eyes don't get any better, it will only get worser slowly as you get older. Maybe you should stop thinking about it. Dont let your eyes bring you down. Cheer Up

Eye surgery is another solution. I think there is a 2% chance of going blind though.

dont be sad.when u reach a certain age,u can get lasik laser surgery to correct ur vision.start saving money for the procedure now!my college room-mate was quite badly nearsighted, but had lasik, and now sees nearly perfectly.within a few days of lasik, she was driving without glasses.she doesnt need glasses or contacts at all any more.as for me,i love my glasses!but everyone must make their own choice.i dont think u can get lasik @ 13,i think u must be 16 or 18-basically,ur eyes have to stop growing ,ask ur opthamologist about procedure, cost and age.it will make a gr8 difference in ur life! ps-till then, why not have fun with ur contacts?u can get corrective vision contacts that can change ur eyes a variety of colors, for holidays, everyday or to match a special outfit! i have amber, and i love them! u can get them inexpensively, but still prescription by an eye dr,at wal-mart.

Ok..no joke. Then what you need to realize is there are BLIND people who wish they could see. There are children in hospitals who wish they weren't ridden with terminal illnesses and who wish they will live to see tomorrow.

My point is simple, there are people much worse than you. As long as you do not harbor an eye disorder, then your vision has possibilities for improvement with Lasik correction and glasses. Blind people do not have that option.

Bottom line....be glad it's not worse. Nobody can have a perfectly functioning body. You have to accept what you have and live life to it's potential.

It doesn't matter too much if you eyes are bad because you can always wear glasses or get laser eye surgery or something like that. And your eyes will stop getting worse, as you are growing so are your eyes, once you stop growing your eyes will stop getting worse and you can get new glasses/contacts or eye surgery.

My eyes are really bad too. They will stop getting bad eventually. Don't get sad over it, just make sure you keep up with the contacts and no one has to know about them. I bet your gorgeous anyways!
Good luck hun :)
