I hope that this is not your child's party that you don't want to go to. I know that children's parties are not the more exciting things in the world to adults, but they are to the child. If this is a birthday, this is something they wait all year for and it is very special for them. The best thing to do would be to go - that way you won't have to deal with any guilt and you will make a child happy that you are there to celebrate their special day.

Obviously, you mean something to this child and he or she looks up to you. It would be a disappointment to him/her if you didn't go and you had no good reason other than just not wanting to. You also don't go if you're going to be a stick in the mud and act like you're miserable. That would hurt the child even more. Why can't you go, laugh with the kids, have fun, and enjoy the cake and ice cream along with them. It's maybe an hour or so of your day. You won't be bored if you tap into that inner boy that likes to have silly fun and forget about the grown up responsibilities for an hour. What do you say? You going to wrap a gift or just put money in a card? Either one works!

If you are a relative, family member, or just a friend you should go. It will show that you care about that person. The 6 year old might also be proud that you showed up. The party might be boring but the thing that would count is that you came.

Why not if it's a friend of your childs. But you could also ask the parent if they need any extra help. I can't imagine a parent turning you down, they could probably use all the help they can get. If it's a relative, stay unless you are on bad terms with the parents, then it might be uncomfortable for the child.

Just a great reason to be a big kid again! Do it! It's not like you have to stay forever. Make that little one happy that you came. Or you can be a big party pooper and grouch and stay the ching ching away with your miserable ol' self!
