I have a friend whos entire family is big on badass dogs. Thing is, they seldom feed them and not a damned one of them is fixed, male or female. The females they don't breed intentionally, and they're mutts to begin with and are pumping out at least a litter of "free to wherever" pups every year. That's per female, and I don't know anymore how many they have.
They've also got a huge rottie, obviously PB that's kept outside on a ten foot chain. Never gets off the chain because he's "too big". He's a little over two years old and still doesn't want to kill, but with those owners he will soon enough. Their pit is in the same boat with a slightly longer chain, only he doesn't get anything more than food and water because he's "mean" They're planning on studding them both, the pit will be making fighting pits.
Is this grounds for being reported? Can it be done annonomously?

try calling ur local humane society on this. How many do they have? If they have an over abundance of dogs it is called hoarding and this is illegal.

that is not abuse but NEGLECT and yes you can report it anonymously, and you should for the dogs' sakes, because everything that you discribed from not feeding regularly to not bothering to take them to the vet for regular vaccinations all constitute animal neglect and they can be prosecuted for it in a court of law! Just think of what could happen if one of the dogs came down with a disease that isn't only deadly to them but to humans as well such as rabies and attacked someone. You may also be held accountable for not having done something about this sooner than you have. Tell the animal control people that this problem has been going on for a while and they will check into it and find out that these people don't even have a vet. They will have their dogs taken away from them and more than likely go to jail! Also I strongly, strongly recommend that you stop associating with ignorant individuals that don't give a rat's backside for animals. They may (and hopefully) will be told that they are never allowed to have any kind of pets EVER again.

i believe what you have described to be abuse but if the town or city considers it as such. really depends upon their laws and ordinances.some places a restrained dog is within the law as long as there is no sign of obvious starvation or disease.large cities sometimes have laws against big dogs esp.pit bulls if there is any evidence they are being trained or encouraged to be violent.(or for fighting).so check the laws, talk to someone about the different societies in your area for animal advocacy.report what you know.as to anonymity, I dont know, if not .will it make a difference? if you dont do the right thing who will?

That seems cruel to us animal lovers, but I'm not sure if it would be considered cruel in the eye of the law. Some people just suck! Your best bet would be to call the humane society and report it. I'm sure you could do it anonomously. The Humane society of your town should be able to answer this question for you. Good luck.

Are they vaccinated ? If not then yes please call cause if they are not vaccinated and an out break occurs all the dogs in the neighborhood run the risk of being infected . Send the humane society out and they usually bring a cop with them cause of trouble out of the owners. I feel sorry for these dogs. Yes they will not give your name out . so you can report them annonomously. Good luck to you and god bless you.

Yes you can contact the SPCA and they will investigate without giving your name. I have called them several times and each time they responded and investigated the situations. And each time my name was kept anonymous. They will check their vet records make sure the dogs are up to date, they well check for proper shelter(which has to be present at all times) as well as food and water.

yes report them to animal control ini your area. yes it can . just call in and tell them the area that these dogs live in and how they are being treated. Most areas of the country do not want females that are not fixed to be where they can be reached by males.

Are they skinny? Are there breeding laws in your area? Unfortunately in most places there is no law against this. You can contact your local shelter and explain the situation. They will let you know and yes you can remain anonymous.

You can call your local ASPCA. You may have to give your name, but they will not give your name out. I know that it may be hard to give your name because you don't want your friends to find out but these animals need help. I know how it is, my one friend had a pit bull, Scrappy. They made him into a huge pit. He's not aggresive but say he would get something and chew it up, they would punch him in the head! When he was a puppy, it was cute to mess around but as he got older, they couldn't disicipline him like they used to and then they began beating. Please, call your local ASPCA. If you do, these animals may have a chance to find a good home and be able to be fixed etc. If you don't and someone else does, the animals at that point have a better chance of being put down. Some may be though when you call just for how they raised them. It not your fault if some would have to. If the one pit is to big for them to get close to and only have food and water and a 10 foot chain and never gets off of it, it may be put down. The ASPCA will give the animal multiple tests for the chance of adoption. They will do a food test to see how the animal reacts around food. Little kid tests, the hand test with a fake hand, etc. I hoppe that you make the right chioce and call. I am a lover of animals and hate the abuse they have to go through. Good Luck! Keep me posted on this! sftballchicadee@yahoo.com
Dog fighting is a NO NO! Dog fighting kills animals. REcently, we had some kids around here get a free kitten out of the paper and let a rotti kill it. That was illegal. They are now in jail. If they place these dogs into fighting, and they get busted, they will not be allowed to have animals ever again most likely and will be put in jail along with a hefty fine. This page right here has alot of information on dog fighting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_fighting#Law
WHERE DO I REPORT ANIMAL CRUELTY?
In NYC: Cruelty situations involving animals in New York City should be reported to the ASPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement department at (212) 876-7700, ext. 4450, or humanel@aspca.org.
Outside NYC: You will need to find out the name of the persons in your area who are responsible for investigating and enforcing the anti-cruelty codes in your town, county and/or state. These people typically work for your local humane organization, animal control agency, taxpayer-funded animal shelter or police precinct.
To find out what agencies are authorized to investigate and arrest instances of animal cruelty in your state (i.e, does the enforcement of animal cruelty laws fall under the authority of the police department or animal control officers?), visit our state-by-state list of state anti-cruelty investigatory-arrest powers.
If you run into trouble finding the correct agency to contact, you may wish to call or visit your local police department and ask for their help in enforcing the law. Similarly, you can ask at your local shelter or animal control agency for help. To find contact information for your local shelter, check the yellow pages or visit the ASPCA’s searchable database of nearly 5,000 community SPCAs, humane societies and animal control organizations.
TIPS FOR REPORTING ANIMAL CRUELTY
Once you have found out which law enforcement agent you should speak to, it’s important to provide him or her with a concise, written, factual statement of what you observed, giving dates and approximate times whenever possible. If at all feasible, try to photograph the abusive situation and date your pictures. It would also be helpful to get short, factual written statements from other witnesses.
When you call to report animal cruelty, always make sure to keep a careful record of exactly whom you contact, the date of the contacts and the content and outcome of your discussion. Never give away a document without making a copy for your file! Make it clear to the agent that you are very interested in pursuing the case, and that you are willing to lend whatever assistance you can.
