I juist read an article which suggested that certain US airlines do not properly reimbuse people for lost luggage; that even if your luggage itself is brand new, they base reimbusement at its "depreciated" value. Also they do not reimburse you properly for new clothing you may have been carrying, even if you have receipts. Has anyone here ever lost something very valuable because of airline carelessness?Or are checkers stealing luggage? I mean the luggage doesn't just disappear!

The airlines lost my luggage on my way to vacation in Colorado. They were going to give me $300. I thought that was about right. They found my luggage the next day and brought it to me. Most other people I know of do get screwed a little. Then again, they are the type to lie and say there was more than there actually was, whereas I was honest. I think they can usually tell. Also, I don't trust all the sources. Some of the stories I heard were obvious rants. Also, they wanted to get paid, you know what I mean? I wanted my stuff, not the money. Sentimental value. Good luck if they lost yours. Mine just got on the next flight by mistake. Hopefully yours didn't go to some mystery place.
