It seems to me that you are becoming anxious about the possible chemical changes within your cognition because you are asking various questions in order to determine why you feel the way you do and at the time you appropriate your emotional status. What may be a good exercise to do is to try the following:-
1. Resolve all known personal and spiritual conflicts
2. State the focus of your anxiety
3. Divide the facts from assumptions ie facts relating to the situation and assumptions relating to the situation
4. Which assumptions can be verified as facts
5. Determine what you have the right or ability to control ie what you can control as a matter of personal responsibility and what you have no right or ability to control
6. List everything related to the situation that is your responsibility.
I don't know if this will be helpful for you but see how you go from there.

Forget medicines - unless prescribed - but do ask for a medical opinion. Lots of things affect confidence. Your environment, the clothing you are wearing, your persona in a given situation. Your persona changes with different tasks. I can be a ordinary guy doing ordinary things to some people - to others I'm a webmaster and some kind of computer genius! That obviously affects my confidence and self-image. You have more confidence wearing a smart suit than your scruffy old jeans for DIY and painting!
