First what you are talking about is a two way street
Second- There are hundreds of scientists, biologists, and Geologists that do not believe the earth is more than 10-15 thousand years old. Not all Christians either. Much evidence is there to show the earth may not be as old as evolutionist's assume. Remember they have no way to actually tell how old it actually is.
And formorebob- want a list of hundreds of today's scientists that belive in Creationism or a young earth?
Send me your email and I will send you a listing.. My email is on my profile

Sometimes when desperate to win an argument without having facts to support their view people will attempt to discredit the other person through various forms of character assassination. More often than not though they make up "facts" on the fly to help shore up their argument......ie. "a lot of scientist believe in creationism", "more and more scientist are starting to realize the bible is historically correct", "they have found evidence of a global flood".....I am sure you could add to the list (I am also sure you will see some of them in answers to this question).

With respect, I for one respect science. I don't "bash" anyone because regardless of whether I think the person is wrong or not, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Period.

However, I have noticed that really more "non-believers" come into this area to bash "believers" than the other way around. We are insulted and mocked for being stupid enough to believe in creation. I've SEEN it. To prove my point, on this very question two posters have called us "stupid", Morpheus against calling believers "stupid, stupid people" and one compares us to Hitler. Nice. Very nice.

Did it not occur to those that put their "faith" in science that science in and of itself is evolving and has often gotten things wrong? Just ask the folks at the "Discovery Channel". Let's see, these few things come to mind...

- Leeching to cure practically all ills comes to mind
- Thalidamide
- The original belief that the earth was flat and was the center of the universe
- Pluto's a planet. Uh NOT!!!

Scienctific conclusions must, per force, by their very nature, change when new evidence comes to light. God's word is constant.

Creationists are in the twilight of their beliefs. They know the end of religion is near. I would call it grasping at straws. It was the same when the earth was proven not to be flat. There was quite a few religious nuts still going around saying no,no the earth is not round. It took quite a few centuries before they finally believed it. It will be the same for the present day religious people. Even though indisputable evidence is dropped in their laps they still follow the 2000 yr old fairy tale.

I wonder if Gary knows what the fallacy "biased sample" is?

I think the substantiated critiques of Evolutionary Science produced by anyone are valuable. The problem is when some critics take the unknowns to be proof od some divine intervention. The 'god of the gaps' argument in any form is insidious.

I think they are using the same tactics that Hitler used. Tell a lie, tell it long and loud, make it bigger and bigger, keep repeating it, and eventually people will start to believe the lie, no matter how much the people being lied about can prove their innocence. After all, they will say, there is no smoke without fire.

This tactic has been used over and over through the centuries. Old women are witches, witches are bad, kill all the witches.

McCarthy used it against the Communists in the US.

Bush and Blair used it against Saddam Hussein with his 'weapons of mass destruction' that didn't exist. Now they are using it against the Syrians and Iranians.

People fall for it all the time, and it will continue and continue, until we wake up and refuse to believe the lies.

To answer your question, it's probably because scientists tend to bash creationists and try to make them sound stupid. Not that it's a good reason, but it makes sense.

Yes what we need is more religion in society so that people have more respect towards those in authority.... oh hold on a minute...

And Gary,,, those you mentioned lived Centuries ago, no great scientist today is that ignorant.

I don't think Ludacris did that... however it DOES seem ludicrous that someone would be arrogant enough to declare that something scientifically and empirically right before their nose doesn't exist and other fine tales of ignoring reality, yet buy into concepts of something that cannot be proven to exist.

it's impossible for a creationist to make a scientist sound stupid. they always end up making themselves sound stupid - unless they incorporate the idea of evolution into their creationism.
