I realize that Navy is ships, Army is Tanks, Air Force is jets and Marines are on ships. Are there any other main differences or is that the MAIN reason that you base you answer on.

If you want to run with the best, you join the Corps. Every other branch is just fighting for second best.

Where you might be stationed. When I went in the average overseas assignment for the Army was Germany. In the Marines was some place in the Pacific or on a ship. I wanted to be in the infantry but did not want to serve in the Pacific or on a ship so I chose the Army rather than the Marines. Had the Marines large garrisons in Europe I might have joined them instead.

The navy will give you the best training because on a ship in the middle of the ocean, you have to be able to do multiple things. However, you will most often be on a ship in the middle of the ocean.

The army is probably the most pure military experience. Combat training, hand to hand fighting, nothing to technical. Just get in, get ready, and fight.

The marines are probably the most efficienct killers. They travel a lot and are a bit more specialized. But you have to be ready to be in intense fights.

The AF is the least of the military experiences. It's often times more like a normal job. You don't see much action and often times don't travel to much. But they have the best education options along with some really good training. If you want the military but don't want to fight, this is the way to go.

Just a clarification, Marines rarely serve on ships in the current Navy--they just go to and from onboard. The majority are on the front lines dodging bullets every day. God bless them all and keep them safe!

Our son didn't join the Navy because he wanted to be on a ships vs something else. He joined the Navy because he thought it was the best "fit" for him and offered him extensive schooling. He was in school for two years before he was ever assigned to a ship/boat.

You have to decide what's the best fit for YOU. What do you want to do while you're in? When you get out? How long do you want to stay in? How much risk do you want to take?

Good luck to you.

I went in to defend my country. That was the main reason. I wanted to fly, eventually, and I loved airplanes so I joined the Air Force. I never did fly for a lot of reasons - all my own. But, it was a great experience. My biggest regret is that I got out after 4 years. As President John Kennedy said " Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." That was my primary motivation but I received discipline, a college education, 100% house loans and lifetime medical in return.

You decide what you want to learn in one of these armed forces. They offer college, specialty trades. It pays you steadily for at least 4 years and you are still getting your education paid for. You can choose to stay in for your full 20 years and get full retirement benefits, including awesome heath insurance. I mean come on, if you can follow orders for 20 years you don't even have to work until you're 65. Assuming you went in at 18. And each branch offers a much wider range than what you have stated. My aunt was in the navy and worked in shipping and handling. (Not boat ships, actually delivery of goods to a stationery destination.)

The Main Reason anyone joins the Armed Forces is for Pride and the feeling of serving your country through an armed conflict makes you feel proud of yourself and makes everyone else feel proud of you by putting your life on the line no matter what even if its a war you dont support

I would suggest that you look to what you want out of life and how that matches up with what each service does. I would get the most amount of information I could before making any decisions. You might also see what civilian counterpart jobs exist as well. (not much call for civilian fighter pilots or tank drivers)

The main reason to chose a branch of service is to see what
you are qualified for. Also to see if you can pass. What are you looking for in terms of what you want to do.
