What makes me cringe? Christians trying to put their Creation theory into public school Science classes.

HELL is the absence of THE GOD and the knowledge one could have been with HIM!
I can think of nothing that makes me cringe.
(Possibly the thought of islam and sharia law taking over more of the world.)

What makes me cringe is the fact that christians believe that an all-loving God will send his creations to a fiery pit of despair for eternity, when they have only committed less than a lifetime of sins.
all-loving God + 100 years of sins=An eternity of punishment? I just ain't seeing it.

I'm an adventist. That means I go to church on saturdays and I believe Christ will return. I don't believe that we can live on after death without the resurrection of the body and one can't live forever without the body made immortal. I don't believe that we are eternal self existant souls that need not of God to live on.
Since i don't believe that hell is burning yet until judgement day and it is only for a while, nothing about it makes me cringe.

well i'm agnostic and everything is totally unknowable anyway what makes me cringe is the thought of some sort of sick cult or religious movement totally taking charge and taking away everybody's total independence and freedoms away from us

My definiton of hell is a place void of love and light. It is a horrible place where there is no love, no forgiveness, no mercy, no empathy and suffering is going on constantly.
