Because the bible is a book that was written by a few people to help raise the spirits and fill the yearning for importance of the low class.

What? Where in the Bible does God say the earth was created in 10,000 years? The Bible NEVER said that. The creative days in Gen.1 consisted of stages in time that Jehovah used to prepare the already-existing earth for habitation. Before those "days" began, the earth could have been in existence for millions of years. See Gen. 1:2

The bible does not state that the planet was created 10,000 years ago. There is an unspecified amount of time between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2 that allows for several billion years.

God never said it is 10,000 years old. The bible does not mention nor infer how old the earth is. Humans that mis-interpret what is written in the bible in black and white (literaly), are the ones who sometimes say that the world is 10,000 years old.

I think the bible says god created the earth in 6 days and on the 7th he rested. The question remains though. What was the name of the contractor he hired.

Did He really say He created the world ten thousand years ago, or did some people who did not have all the facts of an equation do the math and come up with an errant figure that they attribute to Him?

He didn't lie, that little "fact" is in fact no where in the Bible. Midieval scholars came up with that figure by tracking Biblical generations, which is an innaccurate method to start with. The Lord doesn't lie, man does.

The Bible says nothing of the age of the Earth. It only says everything was created in 7 days.
You are either decieved or ignorant, in this case.
Even if it did-- how do you know Darwin wasn't lying to you?

The Bible was written by man... I think GOD has a purpose for everything.. The Bible included.. I don;t read the Bible because I refuse to beleive that god would condemn someone to hell for eating shell fish.....
But I do love the big guy! :)

Why are you so sure it is older? Your teacher tell you that? Good reason, glad you can think for yourself. Hundreds of scientists are now starting to believe the earth is NOT millions of years old, and they have a surprising amount of evidence to back their theory. Try reading up on the subject, I doubt your teacher did.
