Right now, he's protected because he's part of the "government".
Personally, I hope he gets kidnapped by Sunni extremists and made an EJK in Ar Ramadi.

his enemies are mostly those that want iran or syria to control iraq. why kill him? some notion that he has wronged the US? he has kept his word not to attack US troops. some link to iran? he fled to iran after his father and brothers were killed by saddam. the only reason that anyone would want him dead is the fact he has a loyal following and influence in politics. it makes him dangerous only if you are against an independent government in iraq. he favors a theocracy,but at least he wants one seperate from iran. he seems to be willing to support democracy,as long as the US is not controlling it. do you favor killing and being like saddam?
