The judge has done you a favor. Far better to do some community service than to spend the time behind bars. Of course there are some that are so lazy, they'd rather sit it out in jail rather than perform some worthwhile service. Are you one of them? Shape up, my friend. Unless you've been in jail before, you don't know what to expect. I've never had the "pleasure" myself, but from what I've heard, it ain't much fun, not to mention what it does to your record when you finally grow up and get some sense and are trying to better yourself. Think twice, and then think again for extra measure, before you refuse. And this is the best advice I've given anyone so far.....

Well they can actually increase it, require more fines be payed as well, or call it a violation and you get to go to the big house, and when your done you still have to do more community service! Just choose something that doesnt suck and get it over with. It doesnt have to be picking up trash. My son goes to an animal rescue and plays with the dogs. They call it being involved in "socialization" He has a blast and most places will buff up your actual hours.

Well I am no expert here I have always done community service becuse it was fun and I could learn something from it. Doing it casue you have to would not be fun to me at all.
My advice to you is if you are in the situation you are asking about, be the bigger person if you are thinking of not accepting it and accept it.
Maybe you'll meet someone who will inspire to do the work for fun. Eventually you could even find you way to doing that thing for a living. Stranger things have happened to you I am sure.

If you refuse it at sentencing, the judge will impose a different kind of sentence. If you refuse to do it after the fact, you will be in contempt and a warrant will be issued.

Jail. the whole point of community service is that they are giving you a second chance instead of throwing you into the slammer. dont screw it up for yourself.
