Why do people not relize that dogs and not toys? That they are over populated? That they should never be spayed? Heck spaying is cheaper then a litter of puppies. I got my dog from a person who said: I can't get my dog fixed because she keeps having puppies!
Ugh, dog can breed twice a year... I wonder if you ever noticed this? And for goodness sakes, get your dogs fixed.

Yes, sorry if that was rude, you CAN keep a unspayed dog, but some people are too stupid to even know if they're in heat. I once saw a person who kept breeding mutts, and then the mother died. It is easier without them going into heat, no having to worry, and show dogs need to be intact, so again sorry if I seemed rude. Oh and where I am we have a huge cat problem, I guess it's really kitty's we need to worry about. They breed very easyly.

I agree in full about idiot breeders, but many people asking questions on this site are ignorant because there isn't one educated person willing to give a response that isn't heavily hidden in a string of insults. It seems most knowledgable people think that just because they know everyone else should, too. Also, I haven't had any breeding issues myself, but I've seen questions about whelping and early pup life getting answers consisting of what they should have done before and nothing about what they should do now. I can't answer the questions, but I'm afraid that these ignorant BYB questions are like cockroaches, for everyone we see there are like 200 others hiding in the walls letting the pups die because they don't know what to do.
I have an idiot friend from a completely retarded *see: drug addict-dog fighting-ghetto white trash* family who has a few females, none fixed, none get enough attention to even know they're in heat, never know pups are on the way till they hear the wimpering, never get the pups their shots, and say it's too expensive to fix the dogs. I doubt any of their females were of age before they had their first litters. They also have a rottie *beautiful dog* that hasn't left it's little 10x10' area in at least the last year. He's barely two and stays outside through the rain and freezing temp and hot summer days. Then there's the pit her brother has that's violent as all get out and he's STUDDING him. Yes, let's breed more violent pits to continue the bad rep. He denies the dogs are for fighting, but I'd shoot myself before I beleived a word of it.
Crap, I don't remember what I started on about. All because of those idiots out in raiford that just have to have their badass dogs and reffuse to fix any of them, the females because they never have that much money at one time and the males because they want to stud them out.

I am not uneducated, I am actually the opposite, but I see no reason to spay my dogs. I am not a breeder and they will not be bred. When they come into season, they are watched out for. We have a privacy fence surrounding our property. There is no chance for a male to come into contact with them other then the male that we own. He is neutered (came from the SPCA).
There are now vets that are questioning the actual benefits of spaying and neutering, especially the pediatric altering. Sure, it can decrease the chances of getting some cancers or get rid of them completely, but it increases the chances for others well beyond the benefit of altering the animal to begin with. Altering too young can lead to orthopedic problems later on in life because the leg bones have grown to long or growing was incomplete.
Also, I keep saying this and will continue to say it. There is no real overpopulation problem. I think it's over 70% of the pet population is altered. The puppies that usually end up in shelters are those that were born on the streets by stray dogs or puppies as the result of a loose dog, that if a leash/confinement law was enforced, the chances of that happening would decrease.
If we had a true overpopulation problem, there would be far more puppies in shelters then there are. Most dogs are sub-adult or adult dogs. What that means is we have a owner retention issue, not overpopulation. These animals had a home, but were given up for whatever reason. What's needed there is education, not more laws and legislation.
Plus, the numbers that you see the 4-6 million pets euthanized every year is a farce. the number isn't broken down into real numbers. That's the overall number of pets euthanized every year. This includes, owner requested euths, animals that are too sick to adopt out, animals that have behavior issues and can not be trusted as well as animals that are just too old. Groups such as HSUS, PETA and others will not tell you this information because inflating the numbers keeps them rolling in the money as well as keeps them moving towards their goal of no pets.
If you want to call me uneducated because of my opinions then that is your prerogative, but at least I am willing to show the other side of the argument and will continue to do so.

Your right. Some people just want to have one to breed or show off. Those people just think their dog is a pet that just needs to be feed and watered. Those that breed are sometime don't get there dog out in time or they think that they can get money out of it. They need to be educated.
For those people that spay or neuter and care for them, they are more than a toy. There their buddy they play with them and walk them sometimes.

Good post Nanook, nothing I can add.
You'd think keeping an intact dog from breeding were brain surgery! I can't figure out why so many people struggle with it, it is not difficult.
Same with the unenforced leash laws. It is not difficult to figure out what that would do for unwanted litters and dog attacks. The ACs don't want to talk about THAT though, it would be actual work and might solve the shelter issues.

My question is WHY did YOU get a puppy from one of these uneducated people( as you call them?) The more people get their puppys the more they will breed.

That's funny because it has nothing to do with being "under educated" and if it did it would be said as "uneducated", lol. Maybe they want to keep the puppies or have someone else who does, not a big deal, look at how many freakin cats their are in the world, I don't think it really matters.
