Please share any thoughts or reflections you have on this scripture passage. Indeed, there are many things that symbolize the "salt" and the "light" so I am looking different ideas.

Light is simple: The Light shines in the darkness...and the darkness comprehended it (overcame it) not. We are called to be His light....and to let it shine before men that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father in heaven.

Salt is a preservative and it also adds flavor.

For those who hear and comprehend become the salt/savor or those worthy of bringing light or understanding to the world.

Lot's wife turned to a pillar of salt. She looked back when she might have focused on moving forward. She could not continue because she was looking back to the place she had been. We are called upon to learn of him and to enlighten the world.

There is much to learn of the symbolism presented in the candlestick on the alter. Or how will we enlighten the world unless we gain understanding first.

Talking to his disciples Jesus said,"You are the salt of the earth."
He meant use tact in your teaching, just the right a mount of the truth because you can over power your words and they will not get the point like salt, to much of it can hide the real taste.
When he said, "You are the light of the world," he meant...what ever you do in your life practice in your life what you preach and teach...set the example. Light can help you see the path clear.
you are the light.
Peace.....

Salt gives flavor to our foods as a Christian is to add flavor to this world and it's occupants. We are to shine as a light to those around us. Christ was THE LIGHT and we are to reflect HIS teachings and HIS APOSTLE's written words to the world around us. We are the ones who are to spread GOD's WORD in this world today. The disciples were told to go out teach, preach, and baptize in HIS NAME. This is our duty as a Christian today! Have a great day!!
