It grows back faster than you think. And NO, it is NOT cruel, as long as you keep the house warm. I get my cat shaved every 2 months, my hubby is allergic to cats. She is a long haired cat and in 6-8 weeks, her fur is almost as long as normal. Petsmart and all those pet grooming places groom kitties too, they call it a "lion cut.' My kitty actually likes it, she prances around the house after she gets home from the groomer, like "ohh, look at me and my new hair cut!" She has her little bed to sleep in and she does fine keeping warm. Its not cruel at all.

Most of the time fur grows back...I'm sure things like age, health, etc play a part in how long it takes, but yes fur does grow back.
Cats have to be shaved for surgeries....and it grows back. A friend of mine's cat had to have surgery on it's head. It looked funny with only half a head of fur....but over time the kitty looked just like she always did.

Th vet has to shave a cat for procedures and yes it grows back. Why would anyone injure a cats ego by shaving all of its fur!!lol Could you imagine the hate looks you would get.

Yes, of course -- always. I speak as someone who has several cats and who has fostered many cats and kittens. Before surgery, including spaying, cats and kittens get shaved, and it grows back in a few weeks. I've had older cats (10 years old) have surgery, and they get shaved and the fur grows back in a few weeks.

Yes, if you shaved your cat's fur, it will grow back. My friend owns a longhaired cat, and she shaved it during the summer. This greatly relieved the cat of the heat! Shaving a cat's fur is also used by veterinarians: usually prior to an operation.

It will grow back, slowly. You should never entirely shave a cat though, except for trimming some longhaired breeds in the summer. If you shave a cat, I have heard you can make them have hypothermia because their fur is very important in regulating body temperature. And besides, they look butt-ugly without fur.

Yes it will. My cat had to have emergency surgery and she had to be shaved. You would never know by looking at her now that she had been shaved before with all of the fur she has now.

I had my female spayed and the hair that was shaved by the vet never grew back and that was 6 years ago so I guess it depends on the cat..same as with people.

Yes it will. We shave cats for surgical procedure all the time and the hair grows back just fine.

Absolutely. Every time I've had a female fixed they shave her belly. The fur grows back just as good as new.
