i have been recieving chronic pain managment through a methadone program. i recently came on hard times and am unable to work for at least another 4 weeks. i really cant afford paying the daily fee. i am thinking that mabey i can make it on only going every other day instead of every day. especially if i went in late one day then early the second day. then vice versa. that would put it at around 30 something hours apart

That may be the answer, for now.....but hun, I've known people who were on "Maintenance" and its more addicting than the actual drug!!! The German's invented it!! Does that not say something about how deadly this medicine is for you bones, and your body, period!!! My 2nd husband's sister was on Maintenance for years, and finally died at 40 years old of Terminal Cancer, the poor girl !!! It was so sad, I just loved her as my sister-in-law!! She was way too young to die!!! Also, Methadone is way more addicting than the actual drug is too!!! Your best bet would be to find someone through a church, or an organization that will sponser you, to go through REHAB!!! And just get completely OFF of it all!!!! Otherwise, your going to be worried everyday about how you can milk those doses out !!! And there might even be withdrawal from the whole every other day thing, and with withdrawal, comes not wanting to be around the work place and so on!!! Which could interfere with your job!! You need to ask around the clinic you go too, if they know of any FREE programs that'll put you in some sort of REHAB!!! Or, find out how much they cost, and go too church and see if the church can help you with the monthly payments to get completely off of it, you know!!! Find you one of those Pentecostal churches, or some real "Spirit-filled" church, to go too, their more APT to help you, than these "Social Clubs" they call churches!!! Good luck, to you hun!!! My Sympathy's to you!! I'll say some prayers for you, too, okay!!! Smile! This too will soon be behind you, and when it is, dont look back, not ever!!! You know, that would be the Biggest mistake you ever could do, should you get completely delivered from it all , you know!!!!

That is always the best way to quit an addiction. Start off everyother day then every few days and so on. Abrubtly stopping would not be good for you or your health. If you are in a "program" this should be available to you for help, but if not, a close friend and something to keep you busy is best.

Talk to your doctor,As you must take the medicine as prescribed or you will not be able to keep up the good work.

Talk to the people that are giving you the treatment -- they maybe even be able to suggest financial help.
