I was like you when I was young. I couldn't sleep at night for fear I wouldn't wake up.

Death is not something you should fear. Mainly because there is nothing you can honestly do about it. My mother just told me to not think about. It may seem like a hard thing to do, but its the only thing that got me out of my depression as a child.

Fearing death is stopping you from enjoying yourself now. You are alive now. Make the best of it.

A friend told me that it's not death we are fearing, but the unknown after death!

Death is scary in a way that if you die you lose all your friends & family. You lose connections and don't know where you are going!! Well the process is natural , your body dies but your soul is immortal. Meaning you will live in another dimension. Call that heaven or aother dimension. How do I know that?? Well I had a heart check with an invasive test and was clinically dead for 3 minutes. Saw the dimension!! Very peaceful but beg to come back as I felt not ready to stay there. Back to the hands of the surprised doctors. Don't fear death just treat the one you like & love around you decently because the day you leave for that new dimension ALL your memories will come back to you , and the love one you neglected will be the source of your deep pain. TOO LATE to make it up.

Joe.

The great Greek philosopher Socrates once said the following on the subject of death when he had been trialed and punished by death: (this is by no means an exact quote) "There is only two things that can possibly happen once I have died. The first possibility is that I will fall into a deep sleep; the type nobody wants to wake out of. The other possibility is that of the afterlife where I can for all eternity talk with my friends."

The reason we fear is because we don't know which one of the two it is - uncertainty I think is possibly the greatest fear of all.

P.S. Listen to this song whenever you start thinking about death: The Byrds, Turn, Turn, Turn. I don't know why, but it helps me for some reason.

When I was working in a Hospital in Las Vegas I took care of a patient with cancer, I'm not going to details because it's very sad, he wished every day he wouldn't wake up anymore, then his wishes come true. He rested finally and we were "happy" for him as well.
What I'm trying to say is that it's normal for some to fear death and for others a blessing. We fear of situations that we have no control of, but we always have two choices, follow what harms you (physical or mental) or look for what's makes you happy.
Don't be afraid of it because it doesn't let you enjoy the simple things of everyday life. You go to sleep and think of how relaxing and a well deserved sleep can be, imagine is you were to live 90 years or so, what percentage of those years you want to spend thinking of negative feelings?
When you have those feelings do some deep breathing exercise, or whatever your hobbies might be, believe me, it helps. Good luck.

Death is an inevitable part of life. There is no need to fear it. It's going to happen whether you want to or not, whether you're rich or poor, good or bad, etc. If you waste your life worrying about death, and not letting yourself enjoy what time you have, then you're dead already and that's the really sad part. Frankly I'm looking forward to it in the sense that I will have lived the best I can (still trying), and it's my time to rest and go on to what awaits me next. I don't really care what happens to my physical body when I'm dead - they can bury me in shallow grave in the yard for all I care, I won't feel anything. :)
Perhaps the reason you're afraid of death is that you don't believe there is an afterlife? I imagine that can make death scarier.

Death is a difficult thing to deal with, but nothing you should let control your life. Everyone must experiance death at some point, some unfortunatley sooner than others. When it's your time to die you will. Simple as that. Also, if you believe in God and heaven, then you have nothing to worry about. Hope this helps.

I am not afraid of death at all. I know I am going to heaven. I am a born again christian - with that comfort I do not thing about death at all (I was very sad when my partner died though), and I will miss my parents when they die. But I have comfort in knowing I will see them again.
Get some counseling with your pastor (no pastor? then get one and get right with God and the fear will go away)

One reality you have to confront.....death is inevitable. We WILL all die some day. Some sooner than others and there is nothing which can be done to prevent it, only prolong it. Waking up to this realization is what will hopefully help you overcome your fear. When you overcome your fear of death, many other fears disappear since death is the worse of all or foe some, the best of all.

Fear of pain and the unknown is always scary. I do not fear death because of my faith. I believe to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. God has good things waiting for all of us in the after life. Speak to your pastor and study your faith. I am a Christian and I can tell you researching my faith has helped me.
Good luck.

I am more afraid of how I will die. Sitiuations where I fear for my life, like for instance if I were in a car accident or being chased by a crazy murderer, I would be aboslutely HORRIFIED. I am the same way with movie like Saw where you see the person die. But if I knew i would die in my sleep the next day I'd be more afraid of what Id be missing than actually dieing.
