a fellow that i sub-contract work from showed me 3 tickets totaling a little over $800 he just had received,laughted and said "we will see what happens when i go talk to the chief of police,who just happens to be a good friend of mine for the past 20 years or so" I wonder what the outcome will be?

That depends entirely upon the integrity of the police chief and the pull he has in his local justice system. Perhaps people are inclined to believe this type of thing doesn' t happen anymore. YEAH, RIGHT! A chief of a very large department in California was fired relatively recently for "fixing" traffic tickets for friends.

My guess would be just how much juice that this chief has. In a small town the chief may have the ability to over ride the prosecution of a case by order his officers to disregard any further action.

However it would be very foolish for him to intercede for political reasons, really, his job is on the line. Any rival for his position could bring this to the public attention where upon he could lose his position.
