Legally, you don't have the right to park your vehicle ANYWHERE on the road. The law states that the road is for the PASSAGE of vehicles, and vehicles left in a manner that causes and obstruction or in a manner that disrupts the free flow of traffic are breaking the law.
Most of the time this law is only enforced when a car is parked dangerously or on double yellows, however for a case like yours it is unenforceable for 2 reasons.
Firstly your local police probably have more important things to worry about, and secondly the person on the recieving end of the ticket could easily contest it and have you prosecuted for the same thing.
Is your neighbour an utter ****, yes, I agree completely. However from a legal stand point he has as much right to park there as you......unless.....he is blocking your driveway. In which case call the police and get the S.O.A.B ticketed.

I'm not sure on this one because if they are parking on the road in front of the kerb then technically the land is not yours, it is a public highway. You need to speak to your local council about this, and if they are useless contact the Police. Also your local Citizens Advice Bureau may be able to give you some advice. If you can, could you park in a way that would stop them from parking where they do, even if it means not actually parking on your own drive? I mean, could you park across the dropped kerb?
Things like this can wear you down, please don't let it! Best of luck.

my neighbours have the same problem.when they applied to have the kerbs dropped the reply was that no planning permission had been granted for the frontage to be turned into a drive so thier application was rejected.in answer to your question it is down to common courtesy.just remember what goes around comes around.if they block the drive way block them in.the.ll soon get the message.

Somebody did this to me but I didn't know whose car it was, they parked and blocked me in my drive. Because I didn't know who they were I rang the police and the police came and opened the car and parked it properly. But the police did not issue any penalty. So if I were you then instead of asking your neighbour to move the car just ring police and say that a car is blocking your driveway and they will come and move it. Warn your neighbours that you will do this if it happens again. (I live in UK)

if the police will respond for a parking complaint, have them issue a citation and tow the offending vehicle. a tow or two will send the proper message

Tell the council that you think its been dumped and they will put a 7 day notice on it, if its not moved within the seven day it will be towed away. Even if your neighbour does move it, the notice should scare them off. :)

uk. 3 para is nearly right. If it stops you getting out, it is obstruction, if it stops you getting in, no offence. Weird but a high court judge decided this, hope I got it the right way round.
