Does anyone know what it's from and how I can treat it?

I don't live too far from downtown Los Angeles and the traffic sucks (and I'm being nice here). I get the same pain kinda in and under my ear. Turns out, it is tension. I tense up my hands on the wheel and it goes up my arms, to my shoulders and neck. It's so gradual that I don't realize it until my neck and ear hurt.

To relieve the tension, I stop for gas, get a coffee, stop at a restroom, just get out of the car and get away from the traffic.

Then I got a new car. The driver's seat is totally adjustable! I can even adjust the part that supports the small of my back. I found that by changing the height and angle of the seat helps prevents that frigging earache. I hope this helps. Good luck. You may even want to check in with your physician just in case something else is going on.

Possibly changes in air pressure. Are you driving up or downhill? Talk to a doctor, it could be an ear infection that acts up when there is a change in altitude.
OR...once I had ear pain that was actually a cavity in my tooth...

It's probably originating in your neck. It may be that you need to have your arm supported while you drive, in order to take the tension off of your neck.

Start by talking to your doctor. You may need to see an occupational therapist in order to have this properly assessed and to get the best, specifically for you, help in finding those support mechanisms.

I should warn you that this will continue to get worse unless you take action on it now. This is a repetitive strain injury, and if left untreated long enough, it will disable you. This isn't a maybe, but a certainty.

The only thing I can think of is that there is air somehow blowing into your ear. Try putting a little cotton in it and see if that helps. But be sure not to use so much that you can't hear whats going on around you..:)

I'm thinking it's either an ear infection, or perhaps something with the mechanism that controls your balance. Your best bet would be to go to a doctor, and run the problem by him.

Just a shot in the dark here, but is it the pressure inside your car? Try opening a window. I have a sunroof and if it is the only window open, it really hurts my ears-like i need to pop them as if i was on a plane. good luck.

Do you run the air conditioner? Does it blow in your ear?
