What's the word on these new Blue Ray and other DVD players?

Should I still keep buying the current DVDs, or will they end up like vinyl records, and I'll have to replace them?

My hope is that the new DVD player technologies will support the older format of DVDs.

Both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players play and will play existing DVD movies
Players that will play both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are also on their way.
Regular DVDs are here to stay for a long time - As an example, most DVD players still play VCDs!!!!
