Simple. Be a part of the solution. How? you ask. By doing unto others as you would have done unto thee ( respect for the individual ).
Forget all the other nonsense dealing with morality and just treat others as you would like to be treated.
( remember that even if someone wants to be hurt or disgraced , they still want to be treated as they want to be treated and should under this rule treat others as they want to be treated ) <-- I don't think many people get that.

I think it is taking a moment to look beyond your own immediate needs. What in the world concerns you and what do you think makes it not such a nice place? Then analyze what you personally can do to contribute to positive change. It isin't even that by doing so you are being saintly or completely unselfish. Making the world better means you have a better world to live in and leave to your kids.
For me its trying to diminish my impact on the environment in numerous ways; recycling, carbon offsets, gardening organically, energy efficienct vehicle and appliances, etc... We are also building a new environmentally friendly house which will use mostly renewable energy sources. In this way I think I am helping to lessen one source of modern wars as well since some of our problems in the middle east or undeniably linked to our need for their oil. I also volunteer once week at a homeless shelter. I do believe in encouraging self sufficiency in people but I also believe sometimes people need a helping hand to get to their feet. I would want someone to be willing to help me if I needed help. By providing this service we not only help people but diminish the likelihood they will need to commit crimes for food and shelter and help them to get to where they are no longer homeless.

smile at everyone you pass, it may be the only smile they get all day, but it will let them know they aren't invisible. they in turn will smile at someone-and so it goes, it's a small step but it can only help. small steps lead to great things..always help the elderly(they truly have no champions out there),invite the kid that comes to your home and shares the turmoil they live in, to dinner a couple of times a week to let then know not all parents are idiots. stop the next time you see someone broken down and ask if you can help, even if you can't it will make them feel better. help those around you and the feeling will spread. you may never know if any of this has helped but you will know that you've done what you can every day,-whats wrong with that!

Each person could make the world a better place if they would simply practice what they preach. If you espouse peace then you should try to gain it in a peaceable fashion. If you shout love your neighbor , then do so and do not worry about what they do in the comfort of their own home. If you love the sinner but not the sin, then do not join in the sin by pointing a finger at the sinner. If we all tended our own garden first and got it in perfect order, then we could go help our neighbour to lanscape his yard.

Be the best you can. No one can stop those things.
Now, if ALL 6 billion people in the world were the best they could be, maybe all of it would cease to exist.
The problem is, being the best you can be takes work and most people just want to have fun, so they become the worst that they can be.
