It already was on the books. My understanding is that they are planning on trying to use it to increase sentences for those already charged with felong offenses. Sort of like the vague "habitual criminality" we have here in Wisconsin. I doubt they'll actually prosecute anyone on it. I think divorce is severe enough punishment for an adulterer.
From an article on the subject:
The judges said they recognized their ruling could have sweeping consequences, "considering the voluminous number of felonious acts that can be found in the penal code." Among the many crimes Michigan still recognizes as felonies, they noted pointedly, is adultery -- although the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan notes that no one has been convicted of that offense since 1971.

It's not new.....
....adultery is, in fact, a crime. .....An "extramarital affair" is illegal in the District of Columbia, where adultery is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of $500 or 180 days in jail. It's a misdemeanor as well in Virginia, Maryland and more than 20 other states, and a felony in Idaho, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oklahoma and Wisconsin

Foolish law. Consenting adults should be allowed to do what they will with each other. How tough are your pedophile laws?
That where you need to go not adultery or homosexuality.
Make abortion illegal, i agree there.
Waste of resources and time.
