The Bible also predicted prohibition: "In the later times, some shall É speak lies in hypocrisy commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth." (Paul: 1 Timothy 1-4) Nowhere in the Bible does it say people cannot grow, possess, use or even smoke cannabis or that hemp is bad. In fact, quite the contrary: "God said, 'Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth. To you it will be for meat.' And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." (Genesis 1:29-31)
you see, different people have different interpretations. what's wrong for some can be right for others.

The only reason the government has a problem with pot is that it cant be taxed because anyone can get hold of seeds and grow it themselves. The only reason some people have a problem with it is government subsidised propaganda about it. It is a plant and all the properties it has are natural. It just is a different method of consumption and it has no nutritional value. We dont ban other plants that have no nutritional value, do we? I personally am a non smoker (reformed) but i dont have a problem with anyone else that chooses to smoke pot. I also dont believe in the bible and i dont believe in finding excuses to justify my bad habits. My habits are mine and i chose them and bugger anyone who thinks i shouldnt smoke cigarettes or drink or chew my nails.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say people cannot dump their garbage in their neighbor's back yard. Nowhere does it say not to molest children. But surely no one would advocate such behavior!
Truth is, the Bible is not a book of do's and don'ts. In its guidance for behavior, it provides principles. What principle is involved in refraining from dumping our garbage in our neighbor's yard? The principle of treating other people as we would like to be treated. The command to love our neighbor as ourselves.
What command or principle is involved in not smoking cannabis? Well, 2 Corinthians 7:1 commands true worshipers to cleanse themselves of every defilement of flesh. There is no denying that taking smoke into the body defiles the flesh. What then is the purpose of the hemp plant? Well, rope is made out of hemp. So it is not accurate to say that God put it here for us to smoke and get high. And that’s the purpose of smoking cannabis, right? To get high?
As for the citation to Genesis about every herb bearing seed to be meat for us - are we to believe that people are eating marijuana as a food? Hardly. Not to mention the fact that the hemp plant does not produce meat.
A review of the foregoing makes it clear that it is fairly easy to twist and distort the scriptures to defend any behavior in which we indulge. Satan tried it at Luke 4:3-12. But his true motives were revealed. So in the final analysis, what becomes readily apparent is the true motive of the person who is interpreting. Is it to find out how to please God or is it to see what they can get away with while still claiming to worship him?
Some say what's wrong for some can be right for others. But those who wish to worship God acceptably must ask themselves: what is pleasing to God? Obviously, both groups cannot be pleasing to Him.

Things that are abused usually also have proper uses. That is true of man’s reproductive abilities. It is true of wine. Marijuana is made from the dried leaves and flowering tops of the hemp plant, which provides useful fibers for making rope and cloth. Tobacco leaves, abused by smokers, can also be used in making disinfectants and insecticides. Regarding many of earth’s resources, much is yet to be learned as to how they can be beneficially employed. Even weeds are beneficial in preventing erosion and providing mulch when soil is not under cultivation.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Hope your not wasted if you perchance meet him or his cohorts.
Or if someone truly needs your help.

True, God never said to not partake of all herbs or drink, he simply said that to go to extremes with anything is unseemly.
