Most male gods were exterminated with the advent of Christianity, which taught the existence of one God, Who has no gender.

I thought that is what the catholic chruch did. Try to remove all the pagan images of the old Roman Empire and worship the stature of Mary instead.

Why would you presume to know what gender God is? Noo ne has seen him/her in many ages so there is no one to tell. And since man and woman were created in God's image, I would think you could safely say perhaps God is genderless.
