Mormon Beliefs?

my fiance just received visitation with his 8 year old son. He has been raised strictly mormon. We dont know much about their do and donts. All we know so far is that he is not allowed to drink any pop. What else do we need to know? Please help

I suggest you check out www.mormon.org, it's very useful if you just wanna find out basic beliefs, and is written in an easy-to-understand way.

Drinking pop isn't strictly against the rules, however, tea, coffee and excessive meat consumption are. It's likely that this was simply something his parents inforced, or was reccomended against because of the high caffiene and sugar contents.

They study daily, reading scripture and praying morning and night, and before each meal. He will want to attent church on a Sunday, most likely, and maybe firesides (local church gatherings) on Sunday evenings, and maybe church events for youngsters during the week.

As far as TV and music goes, there is a high standard of teaching on media influence - anything with swearing, sex, drugs or otherwise un-Christian acts should be heavily avoided. This is quite obvious for someone of his age, but you might also find that regular pop or RnB music is out of his line of tastes, and he may preffer church music, as it is heavily looked up to in the Latter-Day-Saint church.

Dress standards are also considered important, and dressing modestly is a must.

Family is considered VERY important, being essential to God's plans.

Basically, think about it as a very clean, pure upbringing.

It's not true that we can't drink soda. We are just supposed to limit the amount of caffeine we intake for all the same reasons the medical community says to do so. He probably goes to church every Sunday, and may be involved with BoyScouts since the church has that program that most of the boys participate in. He will not be going out on Sundays to movies, or stores, since that is not keeping the Sabbath Day holy. He is probably not exposed to any inappropriate movies, which no child that age should anyways. He's just a normal kids so it's not like he's going to be real different. Mormons are allowed to drink soda pop as long as there is not alcohol in it. The only reason that I am aware of that mormons can drink soda pop is because soda pop was not invented at the time. In our branch we have a family who's father is the branch president, they will only drink soda and eat candy when they are not home. Btw I am a thirteen year old.

Mormons settle for Jesus Christ as their Lord, and Savior. that is what it meant to be a christian for hundreds of years. The Christian Apologists began to criticize Mormons because they did not accept as true with various the thoughts the Mormons had. Then they further to the definition of what makes a Christian because they were no longer triumphing their battles.

They are far out, they believe jesus was an american, that adam and eve were created in Jackson country, Missouri and the israelites from the bible are the native american indians. A man named Joseph Smith found gold see'r stones in the forest one day and put them in a hat, took them to a rich man. Smith then read the tablets using some codex and read it to the rich man who wrote it down. When the rich man lost some translations he came to smith to get them back, but smith couldn't reproduce the exact same, proving him false
