Just change your toothbrush regularly and you shouldn't have a problem. Also, if you're going to brush your teeth after using the lavatory, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before handling your toothbrush.

You should change your toothbrush at least every 3 months.
If you've been sick, get a new one.
If you've dropped it in the toilet, by all means, get a new one.
If you try to boil it, the plastic will melt. Sorry, but it will. And you can't boil water "not too hot, but hot enough". Boiling is boiling now matter where you live.
The best way to have a sanitary toothbrush is to buy a new one.

pour Hydrogen Peroxide on it allowing it to bubble away any bacteria on it. If it doesn't bubble, it's clean already. This also works on cutting board too! It's very inexpensive and extremely effective!

boil in hot water, not to hot cause the plastic will melt, but hot enough, also leave in alcohol for 20 mins.
