I am a broke university student, and in saying that I would pay someone $5 to walk my dog for 30 minutes as long as the dog gets lots of exercise and is well looked after.

Ten dollars for the half hr is the minimum. Considering that the people are coming to your home that includes their travel time, even if they walk a block to where you live and back, plus the 1/2 hr which is spent with your dog. That would be in a middle class neighborhood. You might pay someone less for this service but then you might get what you are paying for.

If I had to pay some one to walk my dog, then I would not bother having a dog. The whole point of a dog is unconditional companionship. If I am not responsible enough, or can't make enough time to walk my own damn dog, I would just get a cat.

Are you insured & bonded? Do you have experience with animals? Do you know what to do in case of an emergency? What hours?

I do not pay for a dog walker whatsoever. I'm home nearly 90% of the time to be able to take my dog out and spent time with my dog. I know prices for dog walkers are pretty high here.

It depends on your dog. Is he trained to walk? Is he a barker? Does he interact well when he comes up on other animals? This all varies in the price people charge. For a good dog, with no behavior problems, around $10 is the norm for a half-hour.

I live in a small town, so I'd have to say, average.

I would walk my own dog. If I were in a rich area you could probably charge a lot. Those people who are willing to pay someone else to do something they can easily to themselves, will pay a lot more to not have to do it. (no offense to any wealthy people)

Poor people probaly wouldn't pay because they would rather spend their money on other things.
