If the joint has the skin on, and scored, and you want crisp crackling - don't cover it. Lightly oil the skin, season generously with coarse salt and a little pepper, and roast on the top shelf of a pre-heated oven at 180C - 350F.

Foil the first 60mins then pull it off the last 30, that will give the roast time to brown up and have better plate appearance, just like Turkey

Put foil over it to save cleaning your oven too much! - unwrap it about 20 mins from the end of the cooking time, to enable it to brown properly. Hope this helps.

I'd say you put foil on it. It may start spitting all over the oven later if you don't.

Did you tie it?

Ok, put it in a frying pan just for a little bit to brown the side, you're just searing it, so the heat needs to be REALLY hot, make sure and put oil in the pan.

Then roast it in the oven uncovered.

put foil over it to start with to keep the meat nice and moist ...uncover it 20 minutes before its cooked to brown he meat nicely ...
I would also recommend putting a while onion next to the meat for extra flavour
