I have noticed that i see less of them around. But that is not a bad thing. Less dobermans means a less in breeding, because there is not a lot of hype about owning one. Dogs that are really popular like boxers and labs tend to have health problems because there are so many back yard breeders and puppy mills breeding over and over and inbreeding the dogs. I work at a vet clinic, and i have seen maybe two dobermans in the past 8 months. I love the dog, but i think it is good for the breed that they are becomming less popular.

The Doberman Pinchers are still here on the face of the earth :). They are still used as show dogs as well as guard dogs. Pit Bulls have taken over the popularity over the Doberman, just as the Doberman took over the popularity of the German Shepard. But, the quality of the Doberman Pincher has not died out and never will. In my personal opinion they are the best breed of dog on earth.

I own 2 and they are the most gorgeous dogs i have ever had the pleasure of owning. The pitbull got more popular as an aggressive breed so the days of a "viscious" doberman are almost gone(thank god). The standard used to be that a doberman was the toughest dog to own (think Snoop Dogg). Now its the pitbull. Sad when a breeds popularity rests on how nasty it looks.

They still exist. As a matter of fact I have three and I know a couple of other people that have them. They aren't the breed the hard core people wanted them for back in the 70's and 80's. Thank God. Now a days it's the Pit bulls. They are still very intelligent, strong, beautiful and affectionate.

They're still around, just not as hugely popular as they were for a while. And it's been a great thing for the breed too, because the back yard breeders aren't as prevalent now that the breed isn't as easy to sell, so the temperaments have improved again.

No, they're still around. It's just that it was a hugely popular dog in the 80s and you saw them on tv and every idiot had one or two to prove his manhood. Now it's pitbulls. Wait a while and you won't see those too often either. It's just a fad.

They are still around but less popular. They had/have a bad reputation but are really nice sweet dogs and is a total myth that they are mean or aggressive.

They are still around. I just don't think they are as popular a breed as they once were. Pits and Rotties seem to be the 'in' thing now. Personally, I wouldn't have any of the three for a pet. They are too unpredictable.

Nothing has happened to them. They are just out of favour with the crowd that used to like them. They've been replaced by pit bulls.
