Lol! Thanks for the laugh.
I'm a parent also, my son's 12. How he grew up so fast I'm not sure, it was just yesterday we were watching Barney, and now he's in high school!
Congratsulations - enjoy the time with him.
Children grow up very fast.

Your question does not make any sense. What does being atheist have to do with your child saying he's heterosexual? If I were you, I would be glad my child is heterosexual and not homosexual. Plus, I can't see a child three years of age even knowing the meaning of the word much less using it. As far as what you should do, be glad and rejoice that he doesn't have to battle the issues of homosexuality.
Heterosexual means
"Heterosexuality refers to sexual and/or romantic attraction between individuals of the opposite sex. The current use of the term has its roots in the broader 19th century tradition of personality taxonomy. These continue to influence the development of the modern concept of sexual orientation, gaining associations with romantic love and identity in addition to its original, exclusively sexual meaning.
The adjective heterosexual is used for intimate relationships and/or sexual relations between persons of the opposite sex, who may or may not identify themselves as straight. Heterosexuality, as an identifier, is usually contrasted with homosexuality and bisexuality. The term straight is used predominantly to refer to self-identified heterosexuals of either sex. Unlike Lesbian, there is no gender-specific term that is only used for self-identified heterosexual females."

Fit him with a canine shock collar. Everytime he looks at a girl give him a jolt. When he looks at boys, sheep, goats, etc. give him a reward.

You still have a long time to win him over before he actually starts dating, Jim. I am sure if you set your mind to it you can bring around to your point of view.

He's young, and curious. Young kids go through that stage, I'm sure you were a kid once too.
It won't lead to any harm, so don't say anything to him about it.
