A cappella music is vocal music or singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. A cappella is Italian for like in the chapel (music); the term is due to the fact that Christian churches sang without instrumental accompaniment for the first several hundred years of its existence. It is often misspelled as acapella or a capella, which is derived from the Latin spelling (but in Latin capella means small goat).

The opposite of a cappella is instrumental.

'Acapella' is when somebody sing without any musical accompaniment. Sometimes though, I have heard songs described in this manner that have been sung with the backing of a non-electric guitar. Basically, it is just a stripped down version of the song without the use of any electrical equipment or drums

If I sang anything at all, never mind without accomponyment, nobody would ever speak to me again. I am tone deaf and admire people who sing to entertain.

Acapella is when you sing with no music accompaniment. In other words, it is nothing but your voice.
