A DVD will record only as good as the source.

Think about it for a second - its digital - 1's and 0's. How can the quality drop? As long as the output device/format you choose has the same capability you won't notice any degradation.

Was the display device calibrated? Probably not. Who calibrates their TV? But this is a common problem in digital photography and it causes a lot of urban mythology to be spread around - like fresh spring manure.

Ashish D,
Buy it, it is a good Camcorder!
When you are editing your videos, you have many quality options to choose from, depending on how much video you want to fit in one single DVD (e.g 4.7GB).
For example:
100% quality 59 min
62% quality 86 min
50% quality 102 min
37% quality 124 min

You choose!
Good luck!
