In most cases a 2-door is considered sportier, and more attractive to thieves, so is a little more to insure than a 4-door of the same model. If all other factors are the same, the difference is usually around $70/yr at the high side for newer models, and less for cars a few years old. Note that this is not a hard and fast rule, just a generalization.

It comes down to the style of a car.... a 2door Mustang will be more money to insure than a 4 door explorer... but if the model comes in 2 or 4 door the 2 door is more, cuz it is a coupe and coupes are more than 4 doors which are sedans.

Most insurance is worked out by the size of the engine and weight of the car. Cars with big engines but not so heavy can go faster and generaly will generate a higher insurance premium, it's not exactly the number of doors

It honestly does not make a difference when insuring 2dr and 4dr. What comes into play is the vehicle's overall safety and the cost of repairs to it if were to be damaged. So those two things should be taken into account when buying a new car.
