Its called a coffee plant. From the Rubiaceae family. Like a tree, it has a long trunk and branches.
Coffee trees make 2 kinds of coffee: Arabica (about 75% of the world's coffee) and Robusta which doesn't taste as good, but has more caffeine.
The coffee grows in red and green berries. When you open the berry, you get a green coffee bean with a clear sheath. Coffee pickers remove the sheath, dry the coffee and roast it.
Usually, the bean comes out in two peices, but when the whole bean comes out in one piece its called Peaberry. This is said to be the most fragrant and best tasting coffee out there. Peaberries are usually at the end of the branch.
I love coffee :)

Oh, it is absolutely the Starbucks Coffee Factory Plant where they make tons of coffee daily. Ignore everyone else's answers about it coming from some kind of plant. Can you just imagine pouring a cup of coffee from a plant? Really!!!!

Coffea arabica
coffea robusta
coffea liberica
It's a plant with white flowers that smell similiar to a Jasmine. However, it doesn't produce anything that looks like what you think a coffee bean would look like.. but instead it looks like a cherry .. red and all. If you open up this "cherry" looking thing, there is two beans inside side by side. Like a peanut.
Hope that answers your question.

cof·fee n. 1.a. Any of various tropical African shrubs or trees of the genus Coffea, especially C. arabica, widely cultivated in the tropics for their seeds that are dried, roasted, and ground to prepare a stimulating, aromatic drink.
People use to eat the coffee bean too. You can read an interesting bit on it here.
