I have a feeling that your teacher does not believe that any war is just. A liberal couldn't find their a*s if you shoved it full of Plutonium and gave them a Geiger counter, much less find a just war.

As someone who has a Masters in 20th Century History. I can honestly say I cannot think of a Just War. Wars are there to make men richer or more powerful. Ask your self this. If the politicians had to do the fighting themselves, would they actually declare war. All wars end with two sides talking. So in an ideal world , why skip the fighting and jsut talk.
I have never understood why any young man or woman wantd to figh on behalf of a politician. Take the Iraqi War, these are not defending America or Iraq, they are defending a politically parties policy.

The question "Just War" can be interpreted as "Only War"
and has nothing to do with fairness nor a justifiable war,
there is no such act that makes a war "just" nor "fair".
Perhaps your teacher has had a few lessons from Mr Bush?
Or, maybe I should climb a tree and spend the rest of my
life eating bananas, if not, then I will think a little longer and
try to find out a little more about a "Just War"!

User 'Is your BF as hot as me':- Oh, how wrong you are. Britain caused the WW1 by not allowing Germany her dues. what dues were these then?
The Great War was caused by a number of alliances between different countries in Europe. So when one country declared war on another it set of a series of other countries declaring war on each other.
Britain had already warned Germany that if it invaded Belgium Britain would declare war. Germany took no notice and invaded Belgium in order to attack France as both France and Russia had declared war on Germany and the Germans obviously didn't want to fight on both fronts, so the plan was to knock France out of the war quickly by occupying Paris. The quickest way of getting through was to go around a series of forts which the French had built in order to protect themselves from a German invasion which meant the Germans had to go through Belgium. Initially the Germans requested that Belgium allow passage for their troops so they could invade France, but Belgium refused.
The original German plan for this called the 'Schlieffen Plan'.

Wars that can be considered just are able to be justified by circumstances such as oppressive or brutal governments, crimes against humanity, or aggression towards other nations. The most definitive example of a just war is the British and American involvement in World War 2: Nazi Germany was a totalitarian government that was committing atrocities on its people, invading other countries, and was bent on world domination

Surely all wars are based on opinions of individuals, so no war is just because who is the person that decides what is and isnt 'just'? Whats normal and what aint? But id say as a 'normal' person in my opinion that a 'just' war is one where the goodies kill the baddies.

World War 1 wasn't, but world war 2 was, a "just war". It's a shame really, but WW1 was caused, in the main part by Britain and her refusal to allow Germany her dues. And WW2 only occurred as a consequence of WW1. Therefore Britain...our country, albeit indirectly, caused both of these wars and must shoulder the moral responsibility for the millions who died.

The two World Wars were "just" to stop the lunatics from taking over the world.

Any war that is in defence of a contries land/territory is just in my opinion.
Poking your nose into other countries affairs like Vietnam/Iraq is not.

its just started snowing in cheshire..anyway, the war against htler was just, if a just nation lives in peace, and is happy with their lot, and is attacked by an unjust nation who wants to conquer her, is unjust, if the peacefull nation cant stand alone and pleads with anouther freindly nation for her assistance, and she gives it. thats a just war by the peacefull against the agressor, the aggressor is unjust.this also happens whith tyranical leaders against their own people.

Fighting the advance of an unjust aggressor. Chamberlain called the war declared on Germany in the 30's a "just" war.
