As Mature Adults?
Rules are guidelines to follow, they're not the LAW!
Don't be like those in the Book, who "justify the things they do to other men!"
"I'm just following the rules!"
RIGHT!
Have understanding and use compassion. This is my own personal "point of view".

In "what book???" You capitalized "Book" am I to assume that you mean the Bible? Or do you mean "The Rules That Men Live By Book?"

Some rules ARE the law, and we can't go around bending those rules.

Some rules are meant to be followed for the safety and security of all people, and cannot be called into question.

On the other hand, I agree with you, and, as a teacher of handicapped students, I have to make judgement calls on a minute by minute basis, because rules cannot apply to each student, as they are all so completely individual.

We, as a society, either have to have anarchy (in the true definition, not as the chaos definition) or we have to have leadership in government. We cannot have a middle ground of a Sometime Government / Sometime Anarchy. We cannot decide that we will follow the rules when it's convenient, and then make judgement calls when it's an issue that we want to take up.

It's the same with religion. That's why we have so many splinter groups of various religions. As in Baptists, Methodists, etc. (I'm just using these for examples...) If one congregation doesn't like a particular part of the belief system the way that congregation believes it, then they will splinter and make a new sect that believes the way they want to. Thus, we have lots of sects of Baptists -- Southern Baptists, Free Will Baptists, Missionary Baptists, and so on.

We are a society based on Freedom to think for ourselves, but can we just decide to change rules and follow them as we wish? Are judgement calls o.k. to run a country on? It's a question that probably won't be answered on Yahoo Answers, but one to think about.

I have understanding and compassion but I follow the rules. I will not purposely be disobedient to God.

We human beings are not perfect and I guess we all do this to a greater or lesser amount,it is not right of course but we are just weak in some areas.
Bullying for example is seen as a strength and power by the bully but it is in fact a weakness of character.
