If qualified, you may attend medical school on a scholarship but you will have to pay that back via service in the Navy for a specified period of time. You can also pay it through yourself, join the Navy after medical school and get the navy to pay for it in return for your service. You also can join the military as an enlisted member, do your prerequisites and apply to the uniformed school of health science, which is the medical school for the military and public health service.

There are very specific programs for what you want to do. Every Naval Hospital has a person in charge of these programs who can answer all your questions.
First thing, have you been accepted into a school of medicine?

In know of several Navy doctors that attended medical school on the Navy. Go have a talk with a yeoman about it and there should be a recruiter among the crew.

I wouldn't be surprised, you should talk to a recruiter. If that does end up being true, be prepared to be in the military for MANY years. They have to make that money back somehow.

There are programs in which they will, howveer, you usually have to be in medical school already and then sogn a contarct to serve so many yearsafter you get your license. They usually prefer to get Dr.s already licensed and just pay off their loans. easier for them and they already have a professional ready to work.

Why don't you just ask someone in the Navy?
Someone already in the Navy would actually use the term enlistment as being almost up.....not contract. Nice going!
