The key words in your message are "digital cable".
While Digital Tuners are now a must for HDTVs, make sure that the DVD/VCR combo has indeed a digital cable tuner and not just analog.
In any case, even if it has a digital tuner, it will not be able to decode scrambled channels - that's where you need the cable box.
As mentioned, connect the cable to the set-top box.
If your TV has video out, connect it to the video input of your VCR/DVD so you can record some programs.
You can try splitting the cable to both the set-top and the DVD; however, you will only get analog channels and maybe unscarmbled digital (if it has a dig. tuner)

No, that's not right.

You need to hook up the cable from the wall to the cable box FIRST. Running it to the DVD/VCR and then to the cable box can cause signal problems, especially return signal, which is vital for Pay-Per-View and Video On Demand.

First, however, remove the DVD/VCR entirely and run the cable from the wall to the cable box and then to the TV. If the problem goes away, the problem lies in either the DVD/VCR or the cables you are using to connect it. If the problem still exists, you do not have adequate signal reaching the cable box from the wall plate.
Pixellation is normally caused by low signal. At this point, contact your cable company and have a service call scheduled.

Try using the RC connectors instead of the coax for the dvr combo temporarily. What's happening is that there hasn't been enough decibels of signal assigned to the line to support the extra equipment. You'll have to call the cable service guy to come out and do that.

particular, you want a cable container on each and each television. The cable container is what helps you to "perform" digital cable. In concept, you're able to desire to chop up the cable out of the 1st cable container into like, 50 diverse television's. although, they could all acquire the comparable sign out of the container, aka you're able to could desire to visual demonstrate unit the comparable element on each and every television. additionally, the sign gets weaker with each and every chop up you're making, so it may exponentially deteriorate after a on a similar time as. as a result, you want a cable working to each and each television from the foremost Hub Splitter, and a cable container at each and each television.
